Abstract

This paper presents a 3D data viewing application developed to solve the information overload that researchers are faced with in analyzing geotechnical centrifuge models. The paper will also discuss the technology choices and the motivations for creating this task-specific tool. Automated data processing and metadata representation techniques describing model setup and recorded measured will also be discussed. In addition, examples of actual implementation of the interactive 3D data viewing application tool are presented. Finally, conclusions are drawn on the effectiveness of the new 3D viewer in analyzing physical model tests as well as other field and laboratory measurement. Copyright ASCE 2006.
