Abstract

In this paper, CLL and LLC resonant converter topologies are investigated for multi-phase applications that can be used for electric vehicle (EV) chargers. The comparison is realized designing two different resonant converter topologies, multi-phase CLL and multi-phase LLC resonant converters. The designed converters are compared with their performances and topology features. One advantage of CLL resonant converter is revealed that a power flow of CLL resonant converter between phases is more convenient with the phase shift function. However, LLC resonant converter shows a benefit that a current sharing of LLC resonant converter between ports are preserved even under the unbalanced input voltage and output load conditions.
