A High-Speed Compact Polarization Controller in Silicon Photonics

Abstract

An ultra-compact (17 μm) 1550 nm inverse-designed silicon polarization converter with an insertion loss < 0.5 dB and extinction ratio > 25 dB is demonstrated and used to build a polarization controller with 20Gbit/s modulation.
