Abstract

One of the major criteria which decide the real world success of new congestion control protocols is their fair coexistence in a network with traffic from heterogeneous sources. In this paper, we highlight this as a common point of difficulty for congestion control schemes designed for low latency. We propose a new solution which aims for high throughput and low delay, but at the same time can coexist in a network with traffic using different congestion controls. Our solution is a delay based end-to-end scheme which uses ideas from several popular low delay algorithms but tries to adapt itself to a variety of network conditions instead of targeting a specific use-case. In this paper we describe the current status of research, our plan for evaluation and an ongoing problem we hope to find a solution for in the near future.
