N2 - A switched mode rectifier with adjustable input power-factor and low harmonics distortion is described. The converter is based on the 'boost' topology and has a bias capacitor connected in series with the ac source which provides a dc voltage offset at the input. This enables removal of a diode bridge rectifier that is commonly employed in switch-mode rectifiers. Hence, the circuit may be used to compensate reactive power of other loads while rectifying active.
