N2 - In this paper, we initiate an analytical tradeoff study between efficiency and fairness in the resource allocation problems in communication networks. We define metrics to measure efficiency and fairness and propose an upper bound relation between these two indices using convex optimization. In addition, defining a surface of efficiency and a surface of fairness, we propose a study of the trade-off using parametric programming and differential geometry.
