    Abstract

    There are 18 papers divided into six sections: an overview of the first 20yr, which assesses change and continuity in the various subfields since the Annual Review of Anthopology's inception; archaeology; biological anthropology; linrguistics; regional studies; cultural and social anthropology. Topics covered within these sections include: metallurgy and colonial settlement in Africa; disease transfer, human ageing, Austronesian linguistics, history in anthropology, computing and social change, anthropology of museums, human rights, and mass media. There is also an article on lesbian/gay studies in anthropology. -S.J.Evans
