Abstract
This paper presents the solutions derived from cylindrical or spherical cavities expansion theories which are generally used for the interpretation of tip strength measurement with static penetrometer investigations. A comparison between test results and theoretical solutions points out the interest of some a-dimentional parameters allowing to establish a link between the measured parameters and the characteristics of in in situ soils. It shows that piezocone static penetrometer is an efficient reliable tool for investigating and determining the characteristics of in-situ soils.
