Abstract

The effectiveness of plasma torches on microwave absorption is studied in a rectangular waveguide. A new technique is also developed to measure the density and temperature of the plasma torches. The diagnostic technique is based on the dependence of microwave absorption on plasma density and temperature. The experimental procedure to extract the magnitude and phase information of the transmission coefficient from two independent measurements is presented.
