Beamformer design with feedback rate constraints: Criteria and constructions

Abstract

A study was conducted on the design of beamformers when finite rate channel feedback was available in a multiple transmit antenna system. A geometrical framework for the analysis and design of beamformer codebooks with finite number of beamformer vectors was provided. This paper presents a design criterion for good beam former codebooks and showed the equivalence of the beamformer design problem to two other known problems.
