N2 - Inflammatory processes as they occur during rheumatoid arthritis (RA) lead to changes in the optical properties of joint tissues and fluids. In this work we report on in vivo studies involving human subjects, which show the potential of optical tomographic techniques for the early diagnosis of RA.
