Abstract
Various schemes to support the Guaranteed Frame Rate (GFR) were studied. In particular, the throughput and fairness of different discarding and scheduling schemes when TCP/IP traffic is carried were compared. Through simulations, it was found that only per-VC queueing with Weighted Round Robin (WRR) can guarantee Minimum Cell Rate. Among all the schemes considered, the Dynamic Threshold-Early Packet Discard (DT-EPD) integrated with MCR+ (a WRR variant) showed the potential to support the GFR service.
