Abstract

This introduction provides background for the five articles in this special issue. It briefly describes the current neoliberal context within which PAR seeks to democratize knowledge and the ways PAR attempts to push traditional research epistemologies and methodologies toward more participatory stances. It also provides an overview of the five articles which includes two articles on PAR in the global South where PAR has its origins.
