Abstract

The introduction of Chemical Engineering program at Polytechnic Universities, which was accredited by the national professional society resulted in several Poly engineering professionals who have made long term contributions in the chemical industry. The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) listed it among the first 15 accredited curricula in the field of chemical engineering. The program is expected to result in the making of products that enhance the quality of life and protect the environment by using renewable resources and learning from advances in chemistry and biotechnology. The Polytechnic has performed many research investigations concerned with the understanding of fluidized bed fundamentals. The chemical engineering principles can be applied to biological systems and to the development of new process based on biology.
