Abstract

Coating of long-alkyl-chain alcohols on nanophased amorphous iron nanoparticles has been carried out using the self-assembled technique. The formation of chemical bonds between the substrate and the alcohols was demonstrated by FTIR and XPS measurements. The superparamagnetic nature of the small coated nanoparticles is detected in the magnetization measurements.
