COMPARISON OF TEST RESULTS WITH DESIGN EQUATIONS FOR BIAXIALLY LOADED STEEL BEAM-COLUMNS (A REPORT TO THE STRUCTURAL STABILITY RESEARCH COUNCIL TASK GROUP 3-COLUMNS WITH BIAXIAL BENDING).

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Comparisons are made between results of 81 recent tests on beam-columns subjected to unsymmetrical and biaxially eccentric loads and the capacities predicted both by the CSA standard S16. 1-1974 and by interaction equations proposed by Chen. It is concluded that with the methods currently in use for computing the ultimate axial load capacity, the CSA procedure gives satisfactory results.
