Abstract

In this paper, we discuss the compression of cardiac cine-angiograms. We explored the use of a mesh-based forward motion estimation algorithm so that important feature points in images can be tracked continuously in following frames. This algorithm has been integrated in an MPEG1 like coder. Two coder structures have been developed and compared to the MPEG1 coder. It is shown that the MESH-II coder can achieve similar performance as the MPEG1 coder while enabling feature tracking over multiple frames.
