Abstract

In tissue engineering, several important factors govern the quality of cellular integration within a biomaterial. A new protocol for producing materials containing biomolecules is developed. The endothelization of these materials within the artery is explored and a chemical scheme to achieve this goal is described using both conjugate addition and free radical reactions with an acrylate group. The reaction of synthesized of cell adhesive peptides with polyethylene glycol occurred rapidly in buffered water, and the biomolecules were incorporated within the gel in an active form.
