Abstract

In the article "Ethnicity Moderates the Outcomes of Self-Enhancement and Self-Improvement Themes in Expressive Writing" by William Tsai, Anna S. Lau, Andrea N. Niles, Jordan Coello, Matthew D. Lieberman, Ahra C. Ko, Christopher Hur, and Annette L. Stanton (Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, 2015, Vol. 21, No. 4, pp. 584-592. http://dx.doi.org/10.1037/cdp0000012), there were three errors in the Results section. Each are described below alongside the correct results. The interpretations of the findings remain the same. In the first paragraph of Self-Enhancement: Downward Social Comparison and Situational Attributions for the Results section the F-statistic for the Ethnicity × Downward Social Comparison Writing interaction in predicting depressive symptoms was incorrectly reported as F(1, 21) = 3.50. The correct test statistic associated with the interaction is t(21) = 2.09, p < .05. In the second paragraph of Self-Enhancement: Downward Social Comparison and Situational Attributions for the Results section the alpha level for the Ethnicity × Situational Attribution interaction was incorrectly reported as p < .01. When the exact p-value was p = .0107, this corresponds to the alpha level of p < .05. In the first paragraph of Self-Improvement: Upward Social Comparison and Persistence for the Results section the F-statistic for the Ethnicity × Persistence Writing interaction in predicting anxiety symptoms was incorrectly reported as F(1, 21) = 2.31. The correct test statistic associated with the interaction is t(21) =-2.47, p < .05.
