Abstract

The authors regret that an incorrect word appeared in this article as originally published. In the section “The United States Public Health Service Syphilis Study at Tuskegee,” the sentence “The USPHS scientists/physicians engaged in an unethical investigation to document the adverse effects of the syphilis virus on the organs in the human system” should have read “syphilis bacteria”. The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
