Abstract

An editing error during early revisions of this article led to a quote being incorrectly attributed to Tariq Modood. ‘… blackness in Britain is seen as synonymous with a disadvantaged class experience exemplified in Modood’s (2004: 102) statement that British blacks are “stigmatized, and economically disadvantaged” and “have a working class culture and non-goal oriented identities”’. has been corrected to read: ‘… blackness in Britain is seen as synonymous with a disadvantaged class experience exemplified in Modood’s (2004: 102) statement that British blacks are “stigmatized, and economically disadvantaged”’. The author would like to apologise for this error.
