Abstract

Parametric excitation of lower-hybrid decay mode together with upper-hybrid sideband in the ionosphere by an obliquely incident high-frequency pump is studied. The conditions for the instability, including the frequency range, the elevation angle, and the threshold field intensity of the pump are determined.
