Abstract

We present the design of an optical breast imaging system, which is, unlike currently available analog instrumentation, based on digital conversion, processing, and filtering techniques. The system consists of 128 silicon photodiode detectors, 64 excitation points, and 4 near-infrared laser diodes. We provide detailed insight into signal conditioning, timing and light delivery to achieve robust and dynamic imaging.
