Abstract

An optical interconnection network (OIN) is proposed to interconnect multiple router modules at 10 Gb/s in the 1550 nm window. The OIN can provide the multicast function due to its broadcast-and-select property. At each input optical modules/output optical modules, 16 input/output links are grouped together. Packets are segmented before being switched in the OIN and reassembled after the switching.
