Abstract

The Lewis acid catalyzed cyclization of hexatrienes and pentadienals to bicyclo[3.1.0]hexenes and cyclopentenones, respectively, was investigated. The application of the former reaction to the total synthesis of photodeoxytridachione, a molluscan polypropionate, is described.
