Direct observation of rough-smooth twin structure in silver halides by high-resolution electron microscopy

Abstract

Cross sections of silver halide platelets have been examined by low- and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. They provide direct, microstructural evidence for the presence of (111)\/(001)\′/(111)\ rough-smooth twin structures in ionic solids.
