Abstract

Recently, Herman Bruyninckx, an associate professor of mechanical engineering at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, was selected as the new coordinator of EURON. As a coordinator, Herman believes that are are two major and complementary challenges facing European robotics research and these are as follows: (1) to improve real cooperation with the robotics industry; and (2) to increase the "community" reflex in European robotics. EURON's new work program provides a couple of strong instruments to help address these challenges.
