title = "Flow of Bingham plastics over a sudden expansion in a pipe",
abstract = "The hydrodynamic field resulting from the flow of a non-Newtonian Bingham fluid over a sudden expansion in a circular pipe is studied numerically. The governing fully elliptic system of equations is solved using a finite-difference scheme. Solutions are obtained for laminar, constant property flows and for a wide range of Reynolds and yield numbers. The results presented in this work demonstrate the strong effect of both the yield and the Reynolds numbers on the global and local characteristics of the flow.",
