Abstract

We introduce the PDE-constrained fluorescence tomography algorithm that is based on a sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method. Numerical and experimental data are presented to evaluate the performance of the new algorithm. The frequency-domain equation of radiative transfer is used as a light propagation model. The results show that the PDE-constrained approach accelerates the reconstruction process up to a factor of 10 to 15 as compared to the unconstrained approach.
