N2 - The technique of optical double resonance has been used to measure gJ values in the 6s6p 3P1 and (4f)13 5d(6s)2 3P1 levels of the ytterbium atom. Preliminary results are gJ = 1.492 80(4) and gJ = 1.263 5(9) for the two levels, respectively. The measured values are used to estimate configuration interaction, relativistic and diamagnetic corrections to the gJ value of the sp configuration and to extract values for the hyperfine structure constants of the f13 d 3P1 level.
