    Abstract

We report measurements of the magnetization, Hall resistance, and magnetoresistance of (TMTSF)2ClO4in fields up to 30T. In addition to the previously reported spin-density wave transitions, these measurements show a novel phase transition at a field, HX\cong25T. This phase transition is, at most, weakly first-order. Above Hx(TMTSF)2ClO4is a compensated semi-insulator with an activation energy =X\cong1.4K. The behavior at Hxis consistent with the formation of a pinned Wigner crystal.
