Abstract

Detecting gamma-rays from a source clearly indicates the presence of high-energy particles. However, it is often difficult to determine what is producing these cosmic rays. This is particularly true for HESS J1640-465, the most luminous TeV source in the Milky Way, which is associated with a radio supernova remnant and an energetic pulsar. Determining which is primarily responsible for the observed gamma-rays requires fitting its observed spectral energy distribution with models for the broadband emission of supernova remnants, pulsar wind nebulae, and pulsars. Is this talk, we will present such an analysis, and discuss its implications for what is producing the high-energy particles responsible for the observed high energy emission.
