Abstract

A phase-controlled series-parallel resonant converter for electrostatic precipitators is described. Compared with the traditional line-frequency power supplies, the converter is smaller in size, higher in efficiency, and provides a faster transient response. The converter is digitally controlled and the possibility of spark control using a DSP algorithm is explored. Operating behavior of the power supply with the nonlinear precipitator load is experimented and investigated.
