Abstract

Human third molar and premolar dental sacs contain hyaluronidase activity. This enzyme has a.,pH optimum between 3.5 and 4.0, and is equally active against hyaluronate, chondroitin-6-sulphate, and chontroitin-4-sulphate as substrates. The lack of inhibition with saccharolactone and the inhibitory effects of formate buffer rule out significant degradation by exoglycosidases.
