Hyperfine structure anomaly of the stable ytterbium isotopes

Abstract

A level crossing experiment has been performed in the excited 3P1 state in each of the stable ytterbium isotopes. Precise values for the magnetic hyperfine structure constants have made possible a deduction of the hyperfine structure anomaly. The value obtained is Δ = -0.344 ± 0.020%.
