Abstract
A sensing method is developed and used for measurement of liquid phase moisture transport through cement mortar. Near-infrared electromagnetic energy launched through optical fibers is used to analyze the internal environment of mortar samples. Molecular vibration spectroscopy is shown to provide an effective means for in-situ measurement of capillary absorption and evaporation drying in cementitious materials.
