Abstract

The addition of different acetate salts and acetamide lowers the melting point of sodium acetate trihydrate. Between 0-10% of lithium acetate dihydrate a linear relationship was observed between the melting point and the modal concentration, and the cryoscopic constant of Kf = -6.8°C(±10%) was evaluated. Information on dissociation or dimerization of the various additives could be deduced from the results. The positive properties of sodium acetate trihydrate were retained.
