Abstract

We calculate the isospin impurity of the 16O ground state induced by the direct Coulomb interaction using both Skyrme forces and a relativistic mean-field model. The effects of the Coulomb exchange interaction, the neutron-proton mass difference, and the Coulomb spin-orbit coupling are also considered for the Skyrme forces. We find an isospin impurity which is consistent with previous calculations but is 10-20 times larger than that inferred from experiment.
