Abstract
Differential Scanning Calorimetry was used to investigate the kinetics of curing reactions of epoxy resins (diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A and butanediol diglycidyl ether) with aromatic diamines (methylene dianiline and m-phenylene diamine) and a commercial product containing a mixture of these diamines (Tonox 60/40). The heat released during the isothermal cure at various temperatures was measured as a function of time and it was assumed to be directly proportional to the extent of cure.
