Kolmogorov's third hypothesis and turbulent sign statistics

Abstract

The characterization of turbulent eddies based on Kolmogorov's third hypothesis was proposed. The characterization was based on the sets of multipliers that were defined as ratios of velocity increments at successively smaller scales. The new scaling laws were able to predict both the roughness and sign of turbulent velocity increments.
