Abstract

Magnetic moment on Ir in a new ferromagnetic compound Fe2IrSi was discussed. X-ray magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy was used at Ir L2,3 edges. Results showed that the exchange interaction between the itinerant 5d electrons of Ir and the 3d electrons of Fe causes small coercivity of this compound.
