Abstract

Complex market forces driving the reevaluation of health care services have unlocked institutional doors and led us back to the patient's home. All the while, health care restructuring has revolutionized the way we think about clients, ourselves as clinicians, and the delivery of mental health services. Within this rapidly changing environment, behavioral health home care is an exciting and evolving service strategy. This article examines the development of managed care and managed behavioral health care and reflects upon the clinical and economic changes that drive behavioral health home care.
