Abstract

There are a number of models available for data analysis and representation, including event trees, rule-based systems, fuzzy-rule based systems, artificial neural networks, and Bayesian networks. In this paper several models for data analysis and representation are described, and common techniques for risk assessment are presented. The fundamentals of Bayesian Networks and Decision graphs are introduced, since these will be used in following chapters. Applications of Bayesian Networks and decision graphs to risk analysis problems are presented.
