Multimode silicon y-splitter with in-phase and off-phase TE0 outputs

Abstract

We present a multi-mode y-splitter to connect to the in-phase and out-of-phase TE modes of the coupled two-waveguide system in the output. We show an optimal device based on multimode interference and coupling. The device was designed using inverse optimization and the adjoint method.
