Abstract

Renewable-electricity-powered electrosynthetic processes for the production of high-value organic chemicals can contribute to the reduction of the chemical industry's carbon footprint. This Science & Society article discusses current challenges and opportunities for the deployment of these processes, including pathways to enhance reactant solubility, electrolyte stability, and the dynamic operation of electrochemical reactors.
