Abstract

(Figure Presented) Under oxidative stress: The oxidation of guanine and 8-oxo-7,8-dihydroguanine has been monitored by 18O-labeling methods. The combination of nucleobase radicals 1 with the carbonate radical anion 2 results in the net transfer of O- from CO3.- to the end products (see scheme).
