Phased injection of microparticles in a Paul trap near atmospheric pressure

Abstract

A method for improving the trapping of microdroplets in a Paul trap in air is introduced. Dynamical simulations demonstrate that injection at an optimal phase relative to the trap cycle facilitates trapping. A circuit is designed for implementing phased injection.
