Abstract
The authors consider the problem of the behaviour of a polymer chain the links of which possess excluded volume in an external compressing potential field. It was found that the phasic transition - capture of the polymer by the potential well - is a second order phasic transition; the excluded volume influences neither the temperature nor the type of the phasic transition but seriously influences the structure of the system after capture. An analysis is made of this structure. The dependence of the critical temperature of capture on the parameters of the well is calculated.
