Abstract
Quantum superposition of high spin states in the single molecule magnet (SMM) Ni4 was analyzed in experiments that combine microwave spectroscopy with high sensitivity magnetic measurements. The energy splittings between low lying superpositions of high-spin states of SMM Ni4 was measured by monitoring spin-state populations in the presence of microwave radiation. It was shown that absorption linewidths give an upper bound on the rate of decoherence. It was found that pulsed microwave experiments provide a measure of energy relaxation time, which increase with frequency.
