Recent advances in image communications: multiresolution techniques and wavelets

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

A cursory overview of multiresolution techniques and their possible uses is given. The various techniques exhibit the same multiresolution which is very intuitive and is used in many different fields. Wavelets are discussed which could be seen as a unifying theory, highlighting relations between different fields of applications. As wavelets create better understanding and point to new possibilities, they should be looked at as new and interesting tool in the signal processing toolbox and as such will provide good results only if used on appropriate problems.
